I don’t know about you guys, but I love a good smoothie blend in the morning, and even mid-day! I don’t care what anyone says, smoothies are the ultimate way to pack in a ton of nutrition in under 10 minutes. They are the perfect breakfast option, especially if you’re time is limited.
Today I’m sharing a matcha smoothie! Matcha is amazing. I’ve been appreciating it so much more lately since I switched off coffee this past December. The benefits of this potent green tea are incredible. I have noticed an immense difference between the effects of matcha vs. coffee, they’re both quite different. As someone who used to drink coffee on the daily once to twice a day, matcha definitely has better long-lasting energy effects on the body (to say the least). It’s also enhanced my mood and mental clarity, but I’ll save all these details and more for another blog post.
WHY MATCHA? It’s not your typical green tea. It’s a high grade concentrated green tea that has been around for hundreds of years! It is traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies. Matcha is a potent antioxidant, a natural fat burner, encourages the body’s natural detoxification, and can easily be added into other recipes such as lattes, baking, smoothie bowls, and energy bites to name a few. - 1 cup plant based milk
- 1 small banana, ripe
- 1 tsp quality organic matcha powder, I used Amoda Matcha Spirit
- 1 tsp quality organic turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 scoop vanilla plant protein powder
- 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger
- Add all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Pour into your favourite glass and enjoy!
